After 40 years of providing dental care in the Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo area, Dr. Marvin Ugland decided it was time to retire. He sold his practice to Dr. James Johnson to continue the tradition of high-quality dentistry. Then in January of 2018, Dr. Johnson helped fellow dentist Dr. Colbert begin his journey to retirement. With that, Fargo Family Dentistry became Saving Smiles Dentistry, and our team grew!
We believe in creating a relaxing environment in our practice. Our office features many amenities to keep our patients as comfortable as possible. Our team loves to interact with all our patients, and help them understand their dental health and answer any questions they have.
In addition to creating a family friendly practice, Saving Smiles Dentistry is committed to treating patients whether they have dental insurance or not.
To help families and individuals without insurance, we developed an in-house program that will helps you receive discounts on our dental services. For more information, check out our Saving Smiles Program page.
Dr. Johnson also participates in the Care Credit Program and offers his patients convenient and affordable financing options. We can discuss these options at your visit.
If you see a guy walking around in bright colored Nike tennis shoes or with a Star Wars mask on, it’s probably Dr. Johnson as he is big fan of both! He grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo South High School and Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. Dr. Johnson then went on to the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. He purchased the practice of retiring dentist, Marvin Ugland, in 2011. Dr. Johnson feels very fortunate to be back in Fargo providing general and cosmetic dentistry services and working with such a wonderful team.
Dr. Johnson is a member of the American Dental Association, North Dakota Dental Association, is in the Valley Oral Study Club, volunteers for the Red River Dental Access Project and is the former President of the Southeast District Dental Society.
Dr. Johnson and his wife Liz have two children, James and Mara. When he isn’t at the office or chasing after kids, he enjoys hunting, swimming, running, reading and spending time with family and friends.
