Community Involvement

We are excited to announce that Bailee has been added to our team of hygienists. She is a recent grad of the dental hygiene program at NDSCS. Originally from Moorhead, MN, Bailee likes shopping, trying new restaurants and staying active with her volleyball and curling leagues. Fun fact about Bailee? She was born on Friday the 13th!

Please help us welcome her on your next visit!

Our entire team was able to find a day that worked to get out of the office, kick back and learn the fine art of hand lettering from Jenna with Memories by Meyers. Jenna had us practice our cursive writing and then gave us some good pointers on creating beautiful letters. She also selected a quote for our team to letter on water colors. How fitting for the Saving Smiles team was “There is always a reason to Smile”. 🙂

Check out the very talented Jenna here: https://www.facebook.com/MemoriesByMeyers/

Saving Smiles has been gearing up for the golf season with “cavi-tees” and molar ball markers!

Dr. Johnson golfed at the 10th Annual “Open Wide” Open scramble put on by WE Ortho and benefitting the Red River Valley Dental Access Project and the Saving Smiles “Tooth Fairies” golfed at the United Way of Cass-Clay 2018 Women United Golf Scramble!

We love being able to have a fun time while supporting great causes in our community!

We hope that we don’t see too many patients this summer with a “hole in one”!

Dr. Johnson has always shared his love for Star Wars with others. That is why he again reserved an entire theater for the premiere night of the latest Star Wars movie, Solo: A Star Wars Story. He invited friends, family, patients, colleagues, those involved in the Big Brother Big Sister program and other ticket winners to enjoy the first showing of the movie on the Ultra Screen. Some attendees dressed as Star Wars characters and Dr. Johnson even rocked his R2D2 suit jacket. Dr. Johnson said that Solo was definitely his favorite of the last four movies, so he was very glad to be one of the first to see it! Until the next Star Wars movie is released – May the Force be with you!

We fully embraced all of the awesome Fargo Marathon events this year! We made custom Saving Smiles shirts and had participants in the dog run, kids run, 5k and 1/2 marathon! What a fun community event to be a part of. Kuddos to the Fargo Marathon team for all of their planning and execution of an amazing week of fun! We can’t wait to do it all again next year!

Dr. Johnson’s passion for Star Wars is always a reason for us to celebrate May the 4th Be With You. This year we were given the opportunity to serve in the dining room at Salvation Army. It was a wonderful experience and so fun to get out of the office and give back to the community. Our team dressed in Star Wars gear and Jane even wore a Darth Vader mask! We hope we can partner with them to volunteer again, even if it isn’t on Star Wars day.

Saving Smiles had the opportunity to volunteer with Hope Blooms.

We heard from the wonderful Kelly Krenzel about her journey of inspiring hope, happiness and emotional healing through repurposed flowers and the formation of Hope Blooms. She shared her passion for spreading joy by demonstrating how to repurpose a flower donation into beautiful bedside bouquets.

We jumped right in and created 57 beautiful bouquets. The flowers that we tended to included blooms in many different shades of blue, so we felt like the bouquets had a special touch from the Saving Smiles crew. The flowers were delivered to residents at Maple View Memory Care in Fargo.

The event was a great way for our team to gather and give back. If you are looking for a fun volunteer or team building event, checkout the opportunities they have at https://www.hopeblooms.org/volunteer/.

Have you ever camped outside to make sure you got tickets to a movie premiere? Dr. JJ Johnson did in high school! He’s been a huge Star Wars fan since he was little. So needless to say, the force has been with him for a long time. Star Wars was the first movie he ever saw and his memorabilia collection is off the charts. His office is adorned with Darth, Yoda, Han Solo and many other characters.

Dr. Johnson has always shared his love for Star Wars with others. He’s given away some of the most sought after gadgets, and reserves an entire theater for premiere night inviting friends, family, patients, colleagues, those involved in the Big Brother Big Sister and other ticket winners. Some attendees have even dressed as Star Wars characters. People who don’t even know him ask if he is the dentist that rents out the theatre for Star Wars. It’s safe to say his reputation proceeds him and we believe someday he will be the most powerful Jedi ever! December 14th can’t come soon enough.
