Office Fun

This year we went all out in preparation for Halloween!

Our Patient Care Coordinator, Nicki, used her mad crafting skills and made custom pumpkins to greet our patients in the waiting room!

“Fangs” for Your Visit, Trick or Teeth and Will Clean Teeth for Candy were our favorites! 👍

We also created a “Super Tooth Fairy” for the Cook Endodontics pumpkin contest! 🎃

And…..we had a costume contest for our team! There were so many great costumes, but Allie, one of our Hygienists, won (by Facebook vote) with her “Operation” costume (bottom right picture)!

As pumpkin-flavored treats and drinks come back into season this fall, keep in mind that most contain a great deal of sugar. However, consuming pumpkin in its natural form can actually be good for your oral health.

Pumpkin is high in magnesium which helps to strengthen enamel on teeth. It also contains Vitamin A, C and Zinc which promote gum health. Enjoy this delicious and healthy pumpkin soup recipe:

Ingredients:

6 cups of chicken or vegetable broth

1½ teaspoons salt

4 cups pureed pumpkin

1 medium-sized onion

½ teaspoon thyme

1 clove garlic

5 whole black peppercorns

½ cup heavy whipping cream

Sprigs of fresh parsley

Instructions:

Chop up the onion and mince the garlic. Heat the stock in a pot on the stove, adding the salt, pumpkin, onion, thyme, garlic and peppercorns. Once the broth starts boiling, lower the heat and simmer without a lid. After 30 minutes, pour the contents of the pot into a food processor and blend until smooth. (You may have to split it up into small batches.) Once everything is blended, return the liquid to the pot on the stove and simmer for another half hour, stirring in the heavy cream. For flavor and color, add a sprig of fresh parsley while serving.

We are so excited to have Tiff join the Saving Smiles team!

Tiff and her boyfriend, Ron, enjoy spending time with people they love. They love camping, watching TV shows and visiting breweries wherever they travel to (they are hoping to make it to breweries in all 50 states!) When Tiff isn’t spending time with her friends and family, she can be found reading a good book or meditatively coloring while drinking a delicious cup of coffee.

Smiley found us at our new location and was quite a character again this year!

He must have seen Dr. Johnson in the newest Fargo Inc. magazine, because he clearly thought it would be funny to color all over his face in an older issue!

Apparently our masks work great as hammocks!

Smiley was back at it with a permanent marker and more of our dental supplies!

Smiley likes smiling. Smiling is his favorite!
But I guess he likes brushing too!

Smiley should probably brush and floss his teeth a little bit more!

Another wonderful Saving Smiles holiday party is in the books! We had a photo booth, ate supper, played games (including spit on your neighbor and heads or tails) and had a white elephant exchange. So many laughs and such a great time!

The “Grotto” located in Hair Success and catered by the Tavern Grill is fabulous. They were able to accommodate us in their beautiful space at the last minute due to a fire in another venue we had previously reserved.

We can’t wait until next year to see what white elephant gifts make it back to the party!

We are excited to announce that Bailee has been added to our team of hygienists. She is a recent grad of the dental hygiene program at NDSCS. Originally from Moorhead, MN, Bailee likes shopping, trying new restaurants and staying active with her volleyball and curling leagues. Fun fact about Bailee? She was born on Friday the 13th!

Please help us welcome her on your next visit!
